PV Band Weekly Update: 9.21-9.27

Good morning band families!

It's an exciting week ahead of us - first competition week! This week looks strange for our rehearsals, since there are NO sectionals or rehearsals Monday and Tuesday. We really stress (heavily) the importance of the rehearsals on Thursday and Friday to best set us up for success going into the Boca Comp. I tell our kids a lot that "practice to learn your part, rehearsal is to learn how other people's parts go with yours." 
It is IMPERATIVE that our kids (and us) are thinking in 'team sport' mentality over individual interests this week, and in general.

Monday, September 22 -- No rehearsal
Tuesday, September 23 -- No school, no rehearsal
Thursday, September 25 -- Full Marching Band rehearsal, 4pm-8pm
Friday, September 26 -- Full Marching Band rehearsal, 4pm-8pm
Saturday, September 27 -- Competition at Boca Raton High School

Show Shirts:
Parents who already paid for show shirts can pick them up at 8am Saturday. If you don’t pick up they will be sent home with your child after the morning practice. There are an extremely limited number of shirts available for purchase (maybe 15 or so). Those will be first come first served on Saturday morning for $15 cash or check made out to Park Vista Band. Students will get their shirts during inspection at 2pm.

Competition at Boca Raton High School:
See the attached itinerary for the day's event. Please see CutTime for volunteer opportunities -- we are still looking for a few more chaperones. Help loading trucks at 11am and unloading them in the evening would be appreciated to make the task go as quickly and easily as possible.

You're all encouraged to attend and cheer for the first competition of the season! OUR KIDS THRIVE OFF AUDIENCE SUPPORT! Even if they are being teenagers and say "ugh bro that's so cringe if you're there," they secretly really do want you to be a presence in their activity! If you have a show shirt, wear it to show your pride and so Park Vista parents can find each other. Keep an eye on Slack during the day for announcements too.

Important -- Permission Slips:
Many people do not have the last 2 permission slips turned in - Jupiter and FIU. A student cannot go on the field trip without a completed form. We cannot accept verbal consent. This is per School District policy. No field trip form, no trip, no exceptions. 

Fair Share Payments:
Please be sure you are looking in CutTime to ensure you are up to date on payments. If not, please submit them either with a check put in the band safe OR by using School Cash Online (SCO). If you do not see the payment option in School Cash Online please reach out to Cheryl Phillips at treasurer@parkvistaband.com. A few members are new and the option on SCO will be available sometime next week. When a payment has been made on SCO, you can email the receipt to the same email for quicker processing in CutTime. Looking ahead, remember that the third fair share payment of $400 is due on October 1.

Uniforms:
All band members must wear BLACK compression shirt, shorts, and socks every time they wear their uniforms. We recommend these or similar:
Womens: Shirt Shorts
Mens: Shirt Shorts
Unisex: Socks

Donation Solicitation:
It is time for all of y'all to get involved in the magic! We are eagerly awaiting sponsorship opportunities for both Invitational and Indianapolis, and we know y'all have resources and contacts everywhere. Please see our solicitation letter, and spread it to every business you know so we can support the most wonderful and deserving kids in their endeavors.

  Good morning Band Families,  WOW what a weekend! I hope you and your kids feel so proud about this past weekend and the performance they had at Boca. The kids had a great show, judges were so complimentary and constructive, the costumes and props look fantastic, and more. This was an incredible first show (a 1st place win, Best Music, Visual, GE, and Guard did not hurt either!!!) and we are over the moon.  The work does not stop here, though. PV Band Weekly Update: 10.26-11.01

  Good afternoon Band Families, Thank YOU for everything yesterday and this whole week! Directors, judges, and schools were nothing but complimentary for the way we host shows. They loved our respectfulness, our helpfulness, and how prepared we were, even with our weather situation at the end. Your kids also did a FANTASTIC job, and were the "talk of the town" in the way they conducted themselves.  That being said - we do need to wrap up some invitational items (air out tents, reorganize the connex, etc) so please see CutTime later today to volunteer tomorrow for Invitational cleanup.  It really does take a whole village to run this event, and we are PROUD to have y'all, our alumni, and our future representing us in such a positive manner.  We are hitting our final 2 weeks.
