PV Band Weekly Update 7.20-7.26

Good morning Band Families,

We are truly looking forward to welcoming our marching band students back tomorrow for July Camp! We’ve built in some fun activities throughout the week — including Skit Night! — to help ensure our students have a meaningful “camp” experience filled with connection and camaraderie. We’re also incredibly excited to start putting our show drill on the field.

With the forecast looking a bit hotter this week, I want to encourage everyone to begin hydrating now to set themselves up for success. We will have cool cloths, fruit, and other resources on hand to help keep students safe and comfortable, but staying ahead of hydration is key. Our students are not just musicians — they are also athletes — and we want to help them perform at their best physically and mentally.

Be on the lookout for another email from me later today or tomorrow with some very exciting news! This announcement will impact not only our concert ensembles but also shape the direction of our marching season moving forward.

Thank you, as always, for your support and trust. I cannot wait to see our students tomorrow and kick off what is sure to be an incredible week! As always, please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns — we are happy to help in any way!

Week at a Glance:
Monday-Thursday July 21-24: Band Camp, 9am-9pm
Monday, July 21: Parent Dessert Potluck Meet and Greet, 7pm-9pm

Band President's Message:

Thank you to everyone that came out to our 1st Annual E-Day, I hope you all found the event beneficial as a one stop shop for addressing all the formalities to get our season off to a great start. With that being said, there are still many families that have not submitted their forms - please prioritize turning in all the paperwork so you are eligible to participate in all the various band activities throughout the season. You'll be able to turn in forms on Monday morning.

All forms are available in the Document Archive section of the Parent HUB. Also included is a handy guide to urgent care facilities that offer sports physicals if you still need one. https://sites.google.com/parkvistaband.com/parenthub/doc-archive

Monday's Parent Dessert Potluck:

We are excited to welcome all new and returning parents to socialize on the evening of the first day of band camp.  Please stop by and hangout at the band gate starting from 7pm-9pm July 21st and meet up with some new and familiar faces.  Get further oriented as a band parent at this informal optional gathering.  Please bring a dessert to share and a comfortable chair to the band gate at the school.
If you have questions or want to get involved with planning upcoming events like the Friends and Family Potluck on August 6th and the Kids Band Olympics on August 8th, email Amy Krostich at events@parkvistaband.com. See the attached flier for this fun event!

Spiritwear Update:

Merchandise payments are due ASAP. This is NOT part of fair share—it is in addition to it. If you are unsure of how much you owe, please message Marjorie Soffer on Slack or email her at spiritwear@parkvistaband.com and she will let you know. Please send money in an envelope marked MERCH with your child’s name and put in the band safe. Please don’t mix this with dinner money, fair share, etc. If you have any questions don’t hesitate to reach out!

Volunteer and Donate to help at Band Camp:

Calling all parents! If you can, please help out to keep Band Camp running smoothly. Your help is needed to donate snacks, clean the cool cloths, pick up dinner, serve dinner, and more. Details are all in CutTime -- sign in and sign up for what you can. Thank you so much!

Spirit Week: July 28 - August 1

Spirit Week kicks off Monday, July 28th – The kids have put together a fun-filled week with a different theme each day. To help you prepare and avoid any last-minute Target runs, here's a breakdown of each day's theme:

Monday 28th – Matching Monday

Tuesday 29th – Dress like a Tech Day

Wednesday 30th – Wacky Wednesday

Friday 1st – Power Red (Red shirts)

Start digging out your change for our upcoming “Penny Wars” which the kids will be participating in starting on Monday July 28th. The kids will get all the details from the directors but don’t be surprised if you are asked for any loose change so they can compete against the other band sections.

You can already start helping your kids earn Spirit Week points for their section.

📸Just reply to this email with a selfie of you and your kid to let the directors know that you're up to date with the weekly emails!

Stay Connected with the Band Calendar:

The band calendar in the Parent HUB helps you keep up to date on practices, competitions, performances, and more. For even more convenience, sync the calendar to your phone:

Find Band Sponsors and Earn Fair Share:

Talk to companies in the area about sponsoring the band program. Parents have the most success when approaching an employer, vendor, or other company with a personal connection. Donations are tax deductible when they are made to the Education Foundation of Palm Beach County. Sponsors will also be recognized at all of our concerts and events. To thank you for your efforts, 20% of all sponsorship money raised will go towards your child's fair share. Just send information about the donations you get to sponsorships@parkvistaband.com.

Select "Fiscal Agent Account/Program" and type in Park Vista Bands!
