From the Directors' Desk - PVHS Band Weekly Update 5.26-6.1
Good evening band families,
First and foremost, we are almost to the finish line of the school year!!! For those families I have not had the pleasure to meet yet, I look forward to it! Congratulations on making the best decision of your life and being a part of our wonderful band family for the next year. We have BIG things on the horizon and it really takes a village among us Directors, staff, the kids, and YOU to keep things moving forward.
Both students and parents are on this email so everyone is on the same page. Please note that we have 2 more weeks to recruit and bring as many friends on board as possible. The more people in the activity, the better quality it is for everyone.This also means we are one week closer to June camp for our kids! Please see below for some important information regarding the operations and events during band camp (June 2-5, 9AM-9PM).Please make sure your kid is HYDRATING, spending some time outside, and getting what they need to be successful in the next few weeks. Please be on the lookout in the coming days about some important season schedule information, financial/registration paperwork, and more that will be your way in a separate email.This might seem overwhelming at first, but as always, please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns; happy to help in any way!Key Dates for June Band Camp:Deadline to order dinner during Band Camp: Wednesday, May 28 at midnightDeadline to pay for dinner order: Monday, June 2Band Camp will be Monday June 2 - Thursday June 5 from 9am-9pm each day.Senior photos: Wednesday, June 4, 8:30amParent meeting: Thursday, June 5, 7pm for new parents, 8pm for all parentsUniform fittings: Thursday, June 5, during campPV Band Auditions:
Winds players that are interested in auditioning for PV Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, or either Jazz 1 or 2 are required to complete an audition before May 30. Current PV students can audition in class during their final exam period. MS students can request an in-person audition.
Students can also send recordings of their audition requirements (they know what they are!) as long as we can see their face and hands, also due no later than May 30. Students who wish to be in HS Concert Band do not need to complete an audition and will be placed automatically into Band 03.
June Band Camp:
Our June Band Camp is on June 2nd-5th is right around the corner. Grab some sunscreen and make sure your kids start hydrating. It’s going to be hot out there....remember to send them with water too! There will be breaks during the day for lunch and dinner. Kids need to bring lunch with them from home and can either bring dinner too, or pre-order dinner using the form below.
Band Camp Dinner Pre-Orders:
As we have done in the past, we will be providing an option to pre-order meals for dinner.
- Fill out this Google Form by midnight on Wednesday, June 28: https://forms.gle/
WwG38N7qgydkGuGa6 - You will receive an email of the order that you placed. Total up the cost of your dinners and send your kid to the first day of band camp with the CASH to cover the costs in an envelope labeled as dinner money with your child’s name.
- Have your child put the envelope in the band safe (located in the band room library).
Senior Vinyl Photos for Football Field Fence:
These photos will be taken on Wednesday morning (June 4) starting at 8:30am before the kids have a chance to get hot and sweaty. We will schedule a make-up day if necessary if your senior will not be in band camp that day.
Parent Meeting:
Our 1st parent meeting will be held on Thursday June 5th. We are going to have a pre-meeting with the freshman parents (however anyone is welcome) at 7:00pm and then the rest of the parents can join the fun at 8:00pm to discuss what this year holds.
Band Camp Volunteering:
Volunteer positions are posted for our 1st week of band camp, we need parent help for fruit cutting, dinner servers / pick-up people, cool cloths and donations for granola bars. Our parents help to make this program successful. Please sign up in CutTime for anything you can help with. Freshman parents are welcome to step in -- we always welcome a new set of helping hands. com and we will get you information on what is needed and signed up if you are interested, since you are not in CutTime yet.
Uniform Fittings – We will be having your kids fitted on Thursday the 5th for their new competition uniform top, if your child is unable to attend band camp that day there will be a make-up day on Saturday the 21st at 9:00am so our order can be placed in time for our 1st competition on September 27th at the Boca.
