PVHS MB Update - Hurricane!

 Good afternoon Families, 

First and foremost, I hope y'all are all safe from any tornadoes or winds that occurred yesterday! Please do not hesitate to reach out if you need help in any way. 

Second - the purpose of this email is to serve as a recalibration/update on what our days are going to look like for the foreseeable future. We are out of school tomorrow, and Monday is a previously scheduled PD Day which will stay that way. We are not sure yet if days will be taken off of breaks, or we will extend into the Summer, but the school will let all of us know in the future. 
It is no secret we lost a week's worth of rehearsal days, and we still have to prepare for MPA and BOA in the next few weeks. I appreciate in advance your patience and flexibility, as we try to advance our pursuits while also keeping things in check. 

Tomorrow, 10.11: NO Gig at Mizner Park (rescheduled the whole event to April), and NO composite picture day (this will be rescheduled for next week). 
Monday 10.14: This is a PD Day for teachers, no school for students. The band room and field will be open from 4-7:30pm. It is highly recommended and encouraged that students come to practice, run sectionals, review any other material they need to, in order to get their personal responsibilities caught up with their music or drill. 
Tuesday, Wednesday, AND Thursday 10.15, 10.16, 10.17: Marching Band rehearsal for ALL, 4-8pm. 
Saturday 10.19: MPA schedule (attached)

We understand this may seem like a lot. But we are so close to A MAJOR performance in Orlando and we are working our hardest to make sure all the kids are set up for success, and that they are happy with the product they put out on the field. Please help us help you and your family by communicating, staying on top of our rehearsal times, and ensuring that your student is not missing rehearsals unless they are very sick. 

Mundane but needed reminders: FanAngel credit will be applied to students CutTimes here within the next week. 
Please stay up to date on fundraising and fair share payments 
$100 hotel fee for BOA is due soon! $200 fee for chaperones (once named) is also due.

  Good morning Band Families,  WOW what a weekend! I hope you and your kids feel so proud about this past weekend and the performance they had at Boca. The kids had a great show, judges were so complimentary and constructive, the costumes and props look fantastic, and more. This was an incredible first show (a 1st place win, Best Music, Visual, GE, and Guard did not hurt either!!!) and we are over the moon.  The work does not stop here, though. PV Band Weekly Update: 10.26-11.01

  Good afternoon Band Families, Thank YOU for everything yesterday and this whole week! Directors, judges, and schools were nothing but complimentary for the way we host shows. They loved our respectfulness, our helpfulness, and how prepared we were, even with our weather situation at the end. Your kids also did a FANTASTIC job, and were the "talk of the town" in the way they conducted themselves.  That being said - we do need to wrap up some invitational items (air out tents, reorganize the connex, etc) so please see CutTime later today to volunteer tomorrow for Invitational cleanup.  It really does take a whole village to run this event, and we are PROUD to have y'all, our alumni, and our future representing us in such a positive manner.  We are hitting our final 2 weeks. PV Band Weekly Update: 9.21-9.27

Good morning band families! It's an exciting week ahead of us - first competition week! This week looks strange for our rehearsals, since there are NO sectionals or rehearsals Monday and Tuesday. We really stress (heavily) the importance of the rehearsals on Thursday and Friday to best set us up for success going into the Boca Comp. I tell our kids a lot that "practice to learn your part, rehearsal is to learn how other people's parts go with yours."  It is IMPERATIVE that our kids (and us) are thinking in 'team sport' mentality over individual interests this week, and in general.  Attached are several documents, please pursue and take note of the details.
