PV MB Update 10.27-11.2

 Good afternoon band families, 


What. A. Week. I hope your students (and you!) are all resting from... probably the best weekend we've had as a band in the past 3 years! Making BOA finals at a site like Orlando (which is known for being a bloodbath) is INCREDIBLE. Finals scores were separated by tenths and single points, so that shows just how close the competition was. We are SO incredibly proud of all our students' hard work, and we are even more grateful for you as parents - to those who chaperoned, drove trucks, moved equipment, and more!! 

The best part is, we are not done at all - we are just getting started. Please see below for very important information, ESPECIALLY related to Invitational. This is an all hands on deck event and we are so excited!

Week at a Glance
Monday, October 28 - All County Jazz Auditions (select students) - 6pm, Dwyer High School
Tuesday, October 29 - Full marching band practice, 4pm-8pm
Tuesday, October 29 - Trunk or Treat and special surprise, 8pm (immediately after practice)
Wednesday, October 30 - No practice
Thursday, October 31 - Football game, 6:30pm
Friday, November 1 - Final fair share payment due, $200
Friday, November 1 - Invitational setup, 5-9PM
Saturday, November 2 - Park Vista Invitational, All day
Sunday, November 3 - Band Alumni Brunch, 10:30am (for band alumni and their parents)

Trunk or Treat
We will have the annual Trunk or Treat for the kids after practice on Tuesday.  We have about 10 participating cars for the event so far.  It is not too late to sign up -- If you want to decorate and pass treats, you can email Amy at events@parkvistaband.com to participate. Participants can arrive and start setting up at 6:45.

The parent board will be surprising the kids with a BOA Congratulations Celebration just after practice on Tuesday in the parking lot where we are hosting the Trunk or Treat. Please join us and you may want to arrive early prior to 8 pm to help celebrate them and their amazing accomplishments.  WE ARE TRYING TO KEEP THIS A SECRET FROM THE KIDS IF WE CAN.

Football Game
Please sign up to volunteer at the football game in CutTime. Students will be given pizza for dinner before the game. No pre-order forms!

Invitational
Let's all work together to make our Invitational this year successful. It is the band's largest fundraiser of the year. Running it successfully helps keep the fair share low and attracts more bands to participate in the future. This is an ALL HANDS ON DECK EVENT. Your students will be volunteering all day, and we hold an expectation for the parents to volunteer as well! 

Keep an eye out for a separate email this week with more details about the Invitational.

A message from our Volunteer Coordinator Beth Cowan:
Special thanks to all the parent volunteers that so graciously gave their weekend to support our kids for their amazing show at BOA, we can't do all this great work without your help. With that being said our "regular" volunteers are exhausted and we really need to have all hands on deck so we can finish out the season strong with a successful invitational, but it takes a little help from EVERYONE to make that happen. It's going to be an amazing day of fundraising to support our kids with what they love best - BAND.

Sunday's Alumni Brunch
On Sunday November 3rd at 10:30 am at Beach Club Lake Worth Restaurant (https://beachclublakeworth.com/index.php) a Band Alumni Brunch has been planned. Invitations have been sent to the Alumni Facebook page and an alumni email list, but we realize that there are several alumni parents that are also current band parents. We would like to cordially invite all Band Alumni and their parents in the group to attend on Sunday. Please share this with your band alumni children as well as any other alumni parents you know. We are piloting an effort to get and create more alumni events and possibly a formal alumni group is trying to get launched as well.  Please RSVP or send any questions to Amy at Events@parkvistaband.com 

Fundraising
There will be a fundraising raffle in December. Please solicit businesses for raffle prizes to be donated no later than November 29. Items such as gift cards, new items, local attractions, etc. If you have a connection with a business, please ask them!! When you get a raffle donation, let Nadelle and Lorraine know at fundraising@parkvistaband.com 

Poinsettias: It's time!! See attached for the flier, as well as the forms! This is a great holiday decoration for all - and a great fundraising opportunity for us!

  Good morning Band Families,  WOW what a weekend! I hope you and your kids feel so proud about this past weekend and the performance they had at Boca. The kids had a great show, judges were so complimentary and constructive, the costumes and props look fantastic, and more. This was an incredible first show (a 1st place win, Best Music, Visual, GE, and Guard did not hurt either!!!) and we are over the moon.  The work does not stop here, though. PV Band Weekly Update: 10.26-11.01

  Good afternoon Band Families, Thank YOU for everything yesterday and this whole week! Directors, judges, and schools were nothing but complimentary for the way we host shows. They loved our respectfulness, our helpfulness, and how prepared we were, even with our weather situation at the end. Your kids also did a FANTASTIC job, and were the "talk of the town" in the way they conducted themselves.  That being said - we do need to wrap up some invitational items (air out tents, reorganize the connex, etc) so please see CutTime later today to volunteer tomorrow for Invitational cleanup.  It really does take a whole village to run this event, and we are PROUD to have y'all, our alumni, and our future representing us in such a positive manner.  We are hitting our final 2 weeks. PV Band Weekly Update: 9.21-9.27

Good morning band families! It's an exciting week ahead of us - first competition week! This week looks strange for our rehearsals, since there are NO sectionals or rehearsals Monday and Tuesday. We really stress (heavily) the importance of the rehearsals on Thursday and Friday to best set us up for success going into the Boca Comp. I tell our kids a lot that "practice to learn your part, rehearsal is to learn how other people's parts go with yours."  It is IMPERATIVE that our kids (and us) are thinking in 'team sport' mentality over individual interests this week, and in general.  Attached are several documents, please pursue and take note of the details.
