PV MB Update 9.29-10.5

 Good morning families!


We had an AMAZING time yesterday at Boca, and we are SO proud of all of our students for what they have achieved. Massive thank you to our chaperones and all of you supporting in the stands, we truly appreciate it and cannot do this without you!!! We only have up to go from here, and we are already starting 6 points higher than we did last year which is HUGE. Our target is locked on 10/26 BOA and we are going to work hard for it. 

Couple of notes from me: We are currently unsure of our kickoff time on Friday! Earlier in the year we were told it was 7:45pm, but I understand that GoFan and MaxPreps have it now listed as 6:30pm. I have reached out to our athletic director and AP and will send a followup confirmation tomorrow when I know for sure. Thing 2.) Saturday's rehearsal is IMMENSELY important. We have members of our design team in, we are adding Act 4, and the kids are learning what happens when members are missing from rehearsals. We need the whole team on time and here, ready to go that day, so we don't have to keep playing catch up every week. We need to move FORWARD, not plateau where we are at. Thank you for your help in this matter, especially since we only have a Tuesday rehearsal this week.

Tuesday, October 1 - Full Marching Band practice, 4pm-8pm
Tuesday, October 1 - Third fair share payment due, $200 (will send a separate email this week about BOA specific fees and items)
Wednesday, October 2 - No practice
Thursday, October 3 - No school and no practice
Friday, October 4 - Senior Night football game, 7:45pm
Saturday, October 5 - Full Marching Band practice, 9am-9pm

Friday's Football Game
We will be celebrating our seniors and welcoming middle school band students to play with the band at the football game this Friday. Please check CutTime to see how you can help out with this special night.

Freshmen, sophomores, and juniors can order dinner before the game with this link: https://forms.gle/yqeek915qHXZhkDcA and follow the instructions at the top of the form. Senior parents should have received separate communications as to what to expect for this game. If not please reach out to Beth at volunteer@parkvistaband.com.

Dinner for Saturday can be ordered here: https://forms.gle/auCoQKoRRnDrMt6J9. NOTE: If you previously ordered dinner for last Thursday's football game that was cancelled, you do not need to fill this form out. All orders and payments from that order will be used for Saturday's dinner. If you did not order last week but want to add an order for Saturday, fill out the form and put your payment in the safe by Thursday.

Preparing for the BOA Orlando Trip
If your child needs to take medication on the overnight trip, please make sure that you have a physician authorization form on file for every medication they might need. If you don’t have this form on file for the trip, your child will not be able to be administered any medication. Please also make sure that your child’s physical is up to date. The physical must not be more than a year old. In addition, if your child has any special needs for the trip, please email district.policy@parkvistaband.com so it can be noted for the trip. 

RAPTOR Signup
If you have not created your RAPTOR volunteer account, please do so ASAP. ALL VOLUNTEERS are required to be in the system. Once you have completed your online account, you will need to go to the school's front office between 7:30am and 3pm to scan your driver's license. There will be opportunities to scan your license during our upcoming parent meetings as well (dates TBA). We would love to see every parent in the system, you are an essential part of the success of our program and we are grateful for your support!!   Good morning Band Families,  WOW what a weekend! I hope you and your kids feel so proud about this past weekend and the performance they had at Boca. The kids had a great show, judges were so complimentary and constructive, the costumes and props look fantastic, and more. This was an incredible first show (a 1st place win, Best Music, Visual, GE, and Guard did not hurt either!!!) and we are over the moon.  The work does not stop here, though. PV Band Weekly Update: 10.26-11.01

  Good afternoon Band Families, Thank YOU for everything yesterday and this whole week! Directors, judges, and schools were nothing but complimentary for the way we host shows. They loved our respectfulness, our helpfulness, and how prepared we were, even with our weather situation at the end. Your kids also did a FANTASTIC job, and were the "talk of the town" in the way they conducted themselves.  That being said - we do need to wrap up some invitational items (air out tents, reorganize the connex, etc) so please see CutTime later today to volunteer tomorrow for Invitational cleanup.  It really does take a whole village to run this event, and we are PROUD to have y'all, our alumni, and our future representing us in such a positive manner.  We are hitting our final 2 weeks. PV Band Weekly Update: 9.21-9.27

Good morning band families! It's an exciting week ahead of us - first competition week! This week looks strange for our rehearsals, since there are NO sectionals or rehearsals Monday and Tuesday. We really stress (heavily) the importance of the rehearsals on Thursday and Friday to best set us up for success going into the Boca Comp. I tell our kids a lot that "practice to learn your part, rehearsal is to learn how other people's parts go with yours."  It is IMPERATIVE that our kids (and us) are thinking in 'team sport' mentality over individual interests this week, and in general.  Attached are several documents, please pursue and take note of the details.
