MB Update 9.8-9.14

 Good afternoon Band Families,

Thank you so much for ALL your help in making our first football game a success! The kids had a GREAT time and an amazing debut show, and we are so grateful for all your help in helping us get there.

UPDATE: PVHS Open house has been moved from Sept 10 to Sept 17. We will have practice on Sept 10, but please know that any student attending the funeral service for Marcelo will be excused from practice. Our thoughts are with the Villar family and all of yours as well, and we are always here for anything you or your child may need. We love our band families from the bottom of our hearts, and are always here to support. ðŸ’™

Week at a Glance:
Tuesday, September 10 - Full marching band practice, 4pm-8pm (students will be excused to attend Marcelo's funeral. Please email the directors and keep us in the loop)
Wednesday, September 11 - Color guard and percussion practice, 4pm-8pm
Thursday, September 12 - Full marching band practice, 4pm-8pm
Thursday, September 12 - Dine To Donate at Texas Roadhouse, 4pm-10pm
Saturday, September 14 - Full marching band practice, 9am-4pm

This is the time to start selling ads in our Invitational Program. These ads are a nice way to earn money towards fair share while raising money for the band! See the September 2 email from Lorraine for more details.

Eat in or take out from Texas Roadhouse this Thursday evening and a portion of your bill will be donated to the band program.

Opportunities to sell the SaveAround coupon books at Wild Fork and Publix locations have been posted in Cut time. You MAY NOT sign up for more than 1 date unless it is still open the Friday prior to the event. You will need to contact fundraising@parkvistaband.com once you sign up to get full details. You will get your $8.75 for selling the books in person and 100% of any cash donations.  You will need to sign out the books and return any that have been unsold or your fair share will be charged $25 per book for those not returned. Please email president@parkvistaband.com to get your books.

When you’re volunteering to sell our Coupon Books and a patron buys one, after you thank them, hand them a flyer for the next Dine to Donate event and invite them to come. If they decline buying a book, then offer them a flyer the same way. Maybe they’ll be more interested in that. We will have flyers available before every Dine to Donate night.

Our first Flea Market event was great (minus the heat and rain). Thanks to those students and parents who came out to help, you are amazing!! We definitely need more help though. We had about 25 vendors and expect almost double that on December 7th so we will need a lot more volunteers.

Events
I want to extend a huge shout out and thank you to Duffy's at Boynton and Jog for their amazing support of our organization and our kids this past Friday.  The kids took over the back half of the restaurant and had a fun night.  Thank you to our parents who helped out with check in and staying to help the event run smoothly.  Any photos from the night can be shared to the hub via the same link as the football game as shared below.

Upcoming for events will be the annual Trunk or Treat that will take place on Wednesday, October 30 after practice.  More details will follow, but parents who want to prepare to participate can start getting their creative juices flowing if desired.

Also, coming later in the season will be a new event called Bandsgiving.  This will be a Thanksgiving style dinner for band families that we will be creating and planning.  Amy is starting to recruit a committee at this time.  A first planning meeting for anyone looking to get involved for Bandsgiving will be held Sunday, September 29th at 2pm at Panera Bread at Lantana and Jog.

Tech/Media
Photos are now available via the Hub of Friday's football game performance here: https://sites.google.com/parkvistaband.com/parenthub/photo-archive. You can add any photos/video you took from the game and the dinner at Duffy's too.

Travel Information
Through a partnership with HotelPlanner, band families can use a dedicated hotel booking website when planning travel. Rates are discounted and 40% of their profits are donated to the band program. You are invited to use this site when booking travel to Orlando for BOA and for all other personal travel. Feel free to share with others too! https://parkvistaband.hotelplanner.com/

President's Update: president@parkvistaband.com
BOA tickets - unfortunately, I have been informed that they do not offer group tickets for spectators. If you will be attending the BOA competition, you will need to go to ticketmaster to purchase. Prelims and finals are both $30+fees and a full day pass is $50+fees. We will not know if the band makes finals until after prelims that day. If you are unable to attend in person, the event will be covered by BOX5 Media, and subscription information can be found on BOAlive.tv

Shaker Makers!!! We will be decorating our spirit bottle shakers on Saturday, September 14th. Please be at the school at noon with a glue gun (if you have one). All other supplies will be provided.
