July Update 2 - PVHS Marching Band

 Good afternoon families, 

We are ONE WEEK out from camp!!! Here is July update 2 with new information (apologies for the long email). Please click to review older emails with pertinent information to the summer as well: https://pvhsbandnotes.blogspot.com/

- Parent meeting on Saturday, July 20, 6pm to discuss calendar, band camp, volunteer signups, forms, and to pick up merchandise (bring checks or cash). Please attend - (online options will be available as always!). 

Band Camp Dinner Order forms (reminder to pack lunch):
July 22-25 dinner order form
We encourage you to complete the forms for both weeks and submit your payment at the parent meeting on July 20th.
The form for July 22-25 will close on July 21st at 12 Noon and payment should be brought to the parent meeting on July 20th but no later than July 22nd at drop off in the morning (put in the band safe).
The form for July 29-Aug 1 will close on July 28th at 12 Noon and payment should be put in the band safe NO LATER THAN July 29 at drop off. 
Extra food will NOT be ordered. We will be providing peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for kids who don't order/bring food.  There are no refunds if a student is absent. 

- Volunteering: The school office will be open for you to be cleared by the VIPS and RAPTOR service M-Th 8AM-4PM. You MUST be cleared in order to volunteer in any capacity for the band on campus or at the Amerant Band arena. Instructions are attached to this email. 
Volunteer spots for the 9-9 days of band camp and all July events at the Amerant Band arena have been entered in Charms. Please sign up - all hands on deck! 

- Invitational: We need to start collecting drink donations for our band invitational. This will greatly help to increase the profits for our band program. We encourage you to watch for sales at Publix and Target and/or shop at Costo or BJ's. You can begin to bring your donations to the parent meeting on July 20th (and we will collect them all through November 2)
Flutes - Diet coke, Coke Zero or Diet pepsi
Clarinets - 7-up, Sprite or Sierra Mist
Saxes - Sunkist or Fanta orange
Trumpets - 20oz assorted gatorade
Mellos - 7-up, Sprite or Sierra Mist
Baritones - Dr. Pepper
Tubas - Dr. Pepper
Percussion - 20oz assorted gatorade
Guard - Pepsi or Coke
We also appreciate the donations of boxes of assorted Frito Lay chips and candy (Skittles, Swedish Fish and Sour Patch candy/straws).

We are off to the races on July 22! This is going to be a fruitful year, and we are so happy to have you in the band family. Please keep in touch, join Slack and Charms (Band Parent HUB), and let me know any questions you have.

  Good morning Band Families,  WOW what a weekend! I hope you and your kids feel so proud about this past weekend and the performance they had at Boca. The kids had a great show, judges were so complimentary and constructive, the costumes and props look fantastic, and more. This was an incredible first show (a 1st place win, Best Music, Visual, GE, and Guard did not hurt either!!!) and we are over the moon.  The work does not stop here, though. PV Band Weekly Update: 10.26-11.01

  Good afternoon Band Families, Thank YOU for everything yesterday and this whole week! Directors, judges, and schools were nothing but complimentary for the way we host shows. They loved our respectfulness, our helpfulness, and how prepared we were, even with our weather situation at the end. Your kids also did a FANTASTIC job, and were the "talk of the town" in the way they conducted themselves.  That being said - we do need to wrap up some invitational items (air out tents, reorganize the connex, etc) so please see CutTime later today to volunteer tomorrow for Invitational cleanup.  It really does take a whole village to run this event, and we are PROUD to have y'all, our alumni, and our future representing us in such a positive manner.  We are hitting our final 2 weeks. PV Band Weekly Update: 9.21-9.27

Good morning band families! It's an exciting week ahead of us - first competition week! This week looks strange for our rehearsals, since there are NO sectionals or rehearsals Monday and Tuesday. We really stress (heavily) the importance of the rehearsals on Thursday and Friday to best set us up for success going into the Boca Comp. I tell our kids a lot that "practice to learn your part, rehearsal is to learn how other people's parts go with yours."  It is IMPERATIVE that our kids (and us) are thinking in 'team sport' mentality over individual interests this week, and in general.  Attached are several documents, please pursue and take note of the details.
