Marching Band Info, Parent Meeting

 Hi students and parents!


If you are receiving this email, it is because as of 5/20/24 (morning), you are successfully signed up to be a part of the 2024 Striking Cobra Marching Band!

First step: please when you get the chance, peruse the 2 links that are in my bio for the Website and the Parent HUB; this is your one-stop-shop for everything and anything you need to know about Park Vista Band! These sites have info on our calendar, terminology, how families can support and get involved, and way more. 

Second, and SUPER important: We have a parent meeting for all families returning and new on May 22, 6:30PM at PVHS. Here, we will be introducing some key figures in the band, explaining basic details and information, talking about finances and fundraising, how to get involved as a parent, and a high-level rundown of the whole marching season. It is imperative that at least one adult from each family are there - we will be live-streaming this meeting as well, but in-person gives you the most benefit of interaction with other parents, and your high school band directors: me and Mr. Rodriguez. 

Third: It is not too late to get more families involved! One of the largest hesitations I hear about marching band is the financial aspect of it. I promise, we will work with you to create reasonable plans/goals through various avenues to best ensure success for your child! Our activity comes with a price, but the education and experiences that students and families receive is priceless. Please do not let finances or time be a deterrent from marching band - we have and will ALWAYS work it out!! (20 years strong in the history of PV - we always make it work)

  Good morning Band Families,  WOW what a weekend! I hope you and your kids feel so proud about this past weekend and the performance they had at Boca. The kids had a great show, judges were so complimentary and constructive, the costumes and props look fantastic, and more. This was an incredible first show (a 1st place win, Best Music, Visual, GE, and Guard did not hurt either!!!) and we are over the moon.  The work does not stop here, though. We have a big competition to look forward to this week, and a MODIFIED rehearsal schedule due to Yom Kippur (G'mar Chatima Tovah to those who observe).  Please read ALL information below, as many important and crucial details are addressed in the itinerary (and the FAQ page). PV Band Weekly Update: 10.26-11.01

  Good afternoon Band Families, Thank YOU for everything yesterday and this whole week! Directors, judges, and schools were nothing but complimentary for the way we host shows. They loved our respectfulness, our helpfulness, and how prepared we were, even with our weather situation at the end. Your kids also did a FANTASTIC job, and were the "talk of the town" in the way they conducted themselves.  That being said - we do need to wrap up some invitational items (air out tents, reorganize the connex, etc) so please see CutTime later today to volunteer tomorrow for Invitational cleanup.  It really does take a whole village to run this event, and we are PROUD to have y'all, our alumni, and our future representing us in such a positive manner.  We are hitting our final 2 weeks. PV Band Weekly Update: 9.21-9.27

Good morning band families! It's an exciting week ahead of us - first competition week! This week looks strange for our rehearsals, since there are NO sectionals or rehearsals Monday and Tuesday. We really stress (heavily) the importance of the rehearsals on Thursday and Friday to best set us up for success going into the Boca Comp. I tell our kids a lot that "practice to learn your part, rehearsal is to learn how other people's parts go with yours."  It is IMPERATIVE that our kids (and us) are thinking in 'team sport' mentality over individual interests this week, and in general.  Attached are several documents, please pursue and take note of the details.
