Many Things - Band Camp, Handbook, London!

Good afternoon band families,

Happy July! Big email ahead, please read! :) 

First things first - band camp starts July 18 at 8AM! Please get your students prepared NOW by having them go outside and (at least) walk around for 30 minutes a day, it takes a while to acclimate and we want our students to be healthy and prepared for day one. 
Remember the band camp schedule: July 18-21, 24-28: 8-5 AND July 31-Aug 4 5-9PM. We will have a final summer rehearsal and Potluck on Aug 7 from 3-7PM. 
What they will need: Same things as June camp, but this time they will need that ring of index cards and black binder with a pencil. Our leaders will be doing binder/card checks on day one. 

Second: Attached is the MB Handbook and payment schedule for the Fair Share. This Handbook (has been re-written from last year...) is the "one stop shop" for all things procedural and PV Bands. PLEASE read through it all before asking questions. The students will also have a handbook quiz during the first week of band camp so time to get them reading too! Please get the forms taken care of - including the medical forms and financial agreement, these are all due the first week of band camp. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1hX6ldCKsi7y0Sag2MmHEgasHbNy-wyer?usp=sharing 

Third: I just returned from London after the LNYDP Site Visit where we met with officials from the parade and talked about logistics. Attached is an updated LNYDP guide - we are indeed still accepting students (especially our new ones!!) so please read through this guide. This is all the information I have - I promise I am not holding out on y'all. :) Remember that June payments were not a thing, so we need to make up for June AND July for those keeping up with the payment schedule. 

And... exhale. This is a LOT of information but please save this email and read through all the documents as many times as you need.

  Good morning Band Families,  WOW what a weekend! I hope you and your kids feel so proud about this past weekend and the performance they had at Boca. The kids had a great show, judges were so complimentary and constructive, the costumes and props look fantastic, and more. This was an incredible first show (a 1st place win, Best Music, Visual, GE, and Guard did not hurt either!!!) and we are over the moon.  The work does not stop here, though. PV Band Weekly Update: 10.26-11.01

  Good afternoon Band Families, Thank YOU for everything yesterday and this whole week! Directors, judges, and schools were nothing but complimentary for the way we host shows. They loved our respectfulness, our helpfulness, and how prepared we were, even with our weather situation at the end. Your kids also did a FANTASTIC job, and were the "talk of the town" in the way they conducted themselves.  That being said - we do need to wrap up some invitational items (air out tents, reorganize the connex, etc) so please see CutTime later today to volunteer tomorrow for Invitational cleanup.  It really does take a whole village to run this event, and we are PROUD to have y'all, our alumni, and our future representing us in such a positive manner.  We are hitting our final 2 weeks. PV Band Weekly Update: 9.21-9.27

Good morning band families! It's an exciting week ahead of us - first competition week! This week looks strange for our rehearsals, since there are NO sectionals or rehearsals Monday and Tuesday. We really stress (heavily) the importance of the rehearsals on Thursday and Friday to best set us up for success going into the Boca Comp. I tell our kids a lot that "practice to learn your part, rehearsal is to learn how other people's parts go with yours."  It is IMPERATIVE that our kids (and us) are thinking in 'team sport' mentality over individual interests this week, and in general.  Attached are several documents, please pursue and take note of the details.
